Teach pride not shame
The Level Up community already campaigned and won a relationships and sex education that works for all genders and sexualities.
Thanks to what Level Up supporters wrote, the government integrated LGBT education throughout the curriculum. Our community worked together and now young people in England will be taught pride, not shame.
But there has been a backlash by some people spreading hate and homophobia. And it is growing by the day. A petition calling for parents to withdraw their children from lessons has already reached 100,000 signatures. We’ve won the battle, but we can’t risk the government bowing to pressure from a vocal minority who want to turn back the clock.
To secure this win, we need to make a HUGE, loud and proud noise right now in support of a relationships and sex education that works for all.
Because if we don’t act, we are saying that homophobia, biphobia and transphobia are okay. The biggest enemy of change is apathy.
Will you chip in?
